Me

First of all, let me take time to welcome you to my site and thank you for visiting. My name is Jacob Aas Revold. I hope I will be able share some of my experiences, ideas and thoughts and that this may be helpful, interesting or at least entertaining for someone else. I do not have any hope or expectation of this being anything more than what I make it to myself.

As pictures may reveal I am a guy in the “mid-30ths something”. Let us leave the age-discussion at that. I am from, and live in, Oslo, Norway together with my spouse and her daughter. Friends will probably (and hopefully) see me as a person with “joie de vivre”, and this I aim to live up to. I enjoy life. I enjoy being with my family. I enjoy being together with my friends. I enjoy listening to good music while I sip to a glass of nice wine ( or a nice cold one). I enjoy travelling to new places. I enjoy being out in the open sea on a boat and I enjoy staying in watching good movies. I enjoy watching the news, reading newspapers and books trying to get some depth insight on issues. I even enjoy my work most of the time, which is a subject I will come back to a bit further down. I am not any over-enthusiastic person who takes on every challenge in life with a smile, but I think it is fair to say that most of the time I take pleasure in just being around, observing and experiencing life.

Now; the part about work – which I think is an important part of life as it normally takes up a huge part of our time. Not overruling but important enough that I think one should aim at finding their niche where they are good, can make a difference or just feel like they are handling it which gives a good feeling itself.
My background is quite various and mixed but I will not go into smalltime jobs or careerpaths that didn’t lead to anything. Since middle of the 90′s I have been in IT. First on the technical side and then from a more administrative perspective. Since 2000 my experience has been mostly IT management and project management and I have decided to sharpen my focus in the project management direction. Since then I have experienced large projects with both development, implementation and deployment of new services for my customers which have been everything from small and medium companies to large international companies and government departments. Today I run my own company in Oslo and I am offering my services locally and globally.

Looking outside my neighborhood is one of my favourite activities, and I encourage everyone to try it on a regular basis. We all, in our daily life, often get a bit too comfortable, or stuck, in our own environment and we forget to look to other people, their experiences and learn from them. And it is also useful to remember that ones position is not the center of the universe..

Project managers within Information Technology in Norway, such as myself, dont have a very large community and I feel the need to stay updated on whats happening outside our own small backyard. Looking across borders through the web, the blogs, the community pages and social networking sites is a very good way to start doing that. And by communicating through these channels I thing we all get more experienced in how to share our knowledge with each other. This I like, and I hope to contribute with my share..

Please get in touch for both business and sharing ideas and experiences.

Take care !

Jacob (November, 25th  2009)
